The Chota Char Dham Yatra, a sacred sojourn encompassing the divine realms of Yamunotri, Gangotri, Badrinath, and Kedarnath, stands as a testament to the profound spirituality of India. Yamunotri, the first destination in this spiritual odyssey, is where the holy waters of the Yamuna River flow, believed to cleanse the soul of its sins and shield devotees from untimely demise. A dip in these sacred waters marks the initiation of a divine journey, purifying the soul and setting the stage for a deeper spiritual awakening.

Gangotri, the birthplace of the mighty Ganges River, holds immense spiritual significance for Hindus. The Ganges is revered as a goddess, and a pilgrimage to Gangotri is a quest for spiritual cleansing and blessings. The pristine waters of the river symbolize purity and divine grace, drawing seekers closer to the divine.

Kedarnath, nestled amidst the Himalayas, is one of the 12 Jyotirlingas of Lord Shiva. What sets Kedarnath apart is the unique reverence for the Lord’s backside, symbolizing humility and the shedding of ego. Pilgrims embark on this journey to attain spiritual awakening and connect with Lord Shiva, transcending the material world.

Dedicated to Lord Vishnu, Badrinath Temple, established by the revered Adi Shankaracharya, is the third stop on this sacred circuit. Here, worshippers seek the blessings of Lord Vishnu, who is believed to grant salvation.

Day 1: Rishikesh to Barkot

Drive Distance: 190 km

Drive Time: 5-6 hrs

Altitude: 1,220 m/ 4,000 ft

Your sacred journey begins in the revered town of Rishikesh. From there, you’ll set your course for the picturesque town of Barkot, nestled within the awe-inspiring Garhwal Himalayas. Upon your arrival in Barkot, you’ll check into your comfortable accommodation, taking a moment to relax and prepare for the spiritual adventure that lies ahead.

Day 2: Barkot to Yamunotri and Back – The Abode of Goddess Yamuna

Barkot to Janki Chatti: 46 km, 1-3 hours

Trek Distance and Time: 12 km, 7-8 hours

Yamunotri Altitude: 3,293 m/ 10,800 ft

The day starts early as you head to Janki Chatti, the starting point of your trek to Yamunotri. This is a significant step in your spiritual journey. Upon reaching the sacred Yamunotri Temple, dedicated to Goddess Yamuna, you’ll participate in soul-cleansing rituals and offer your heartfelt prayers. After this divine experience, you’ll return to Barkot to rest and reflect.

Day 3: Barkot to Uttarkashi

Drive Distance: 82 km, 2-4 hours

You’ll bid farewell to Barkot and embark on a scenic drive to Uttarkashi, a town that serves as a gateway to various sacred destinations. Here, you’ll visit the revered Vishwanath Temple, immersing yourself in spiritual and cultural explorations. Afterward, you’ll check in at your accommodation in Uttarkashi, where you can rest and prepare for the next leg of your journey.

Day 4: Uttarkashi to Gangotri – Journey to the Source of the Ganges

Drive distance & Time:100 km, 4-5 hrs

Altitude: 10,300 ft

Setting out early, you’ll journey to Gangotri, a spiritual nucleus of your expedition. Upon your arrival, you’ll pay your respects at the Gangotri Temple, dedicated to Goddess Ganga. The tranquil surroundings and the ethereal aura of the temple make it a perfect place for spiritual activities. Afterward, you can explore the picturesque town of Gangotri and its surrounding attractions.

Day 5: Uttarkashi to Guptkashi/Sonprayag

Drive distance & Time: 200 km, 7-8 hrs

Altitude: 1,319 m/ 4,300 ft

Leaving Uttarkashi behind, you’ll continue your journey to Guptkashi/Sonprayag. Upon reaching Guptkashi/Sonprayag, you’ll check in at your accommodation, where you can relax and prepare for your upcoming pilgrimage to Kedarnath. Take this time to reflect on the spiritual significance of your journey so far.

Day 6: Guptkashi to Gaurikund to Kedarnath

Guptkashi to Gaurikund: 35 km, 2-3 hrs

Trek Distance and Time: 18 km, 7-8 hrs

Kedarnath Altitude: 3,533 m/ 11,600 ft

The day begins with an early morning drive to Gaurikund, the starting point of your trek to Kedarnath. Upon arrival, check in at your Kedarnath accommodation and prepare to seek the blessings of Lord Shiva. One of the highlights of the day is the evening Aarti at Kedarnath Temple, a serene and spiritual experience.

Day 7: Kedarnath to Gaurikund: Drive Guptkashi/ Sonprayag

Drive Distance & Time: 35 km, 2 hrs

Trek Distance: 18 km, 5-6 hrs

After your morning rituals and darshan at Kedarnath Temple, you’ll begin your descent to Gaurikund. This journey offers a chance for reflection on the spiritual experiences and growth that this pilgrimage has brought. Your overnight stay in Guptkashi allows for peaceful contemplation.

Day 8: Guptkashi/ Sonprayag to Joshimath

Drive distance & Time: 138 km, 5-6 hrs

You’ll check out from Guptkashi and embark on a scenic drive to Joshimath. Upon arrival at Joshimath, you’ll check in at your accommodation, refreshed and prepared for your spiritual journey.

You can explore the local temples and places like Narsing Devta Temple and Adi Shankracharya Temple, to offer your prayers and seek blessings.

Day 9: Visit Badrinath + Mana Village, back to Joshimath

Drive distance & Time: 50 km, 1-2 hrs

Begin your day early in the morning with a drive to Badrinath Temple. Have your darshan, and after that, explore nearby attractions such as Tapt Kund and Mana Village.

Then, we will drive back to Joshimath.

Day 10: Joshimath to Rishikesh

Total Trek distance & Time: 250 km, 7-8 hrs

As your Char Dham Yatra nears its conclusion, you’ll depart from Joshimath to Rishikesh. Your journey will end here.
